#TBT Throwback Thursday – TurboGrafx-16 Mini Release

The TurboGrafx-16, known in Japan and France as the PC Engine, was originally released in Japan on October 30, 1987, and in the United States on August 29, 1989. Fast forward almost 30 years later and now we have the TurboGrafx – 16 Mini!

The TurboGrafx-16 Mini will retail for $100 USD exclusively on Amazon, but will officially release December 31 of this year. I know. Bummer. When it does arrive you get the TurboGrafx-16 Mini, a USB TurboGrafx-16 controller, an HDMI cable, and a microUSB cable to power the mini console, but no USB outlet adapter is included. It comes with 57 games (listed below) from both the TurboGrafx-16 and PC Engine libraries, 32 of which are in Japanese–though most of them are still playable for English speakers, as the libraries largely consist of shooters, platformers, and other games where the language barrier doesn’t impede the experience.
