Last week Robert Sarver, owner of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns and the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury, has been suspended one year and fined $10 million by the NBA as a result of an investigation into the Suns franchise. After feeling pressure from the league and sponsors he plans on selling both teams.
Last November 2021, senior writer for ESPN Baxter Holmes ran a story about allegations of racism and misogyny within the Phoenix Suns organization that has gone on for the last 17 years under Robert Sarver’s ownership. An independent investigation was done by the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. David Anders and Sarah Eddy, partners at the firm, led the investigation.
