Meek Mill & Michael Rubin Start $2 Million Scholarship for Philly Students

Name a better duo from Philly better than Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid? Ok i will. Meek Mill and Michael Rubin that’s who! The dynamic duo are teaming up again for the greater good. Meek Mill and Michael Rubin are putting together a 2 million dollar scholarship program for underprivileged children from the Philadelphia area.

The scholarship money will assist approximately 1,000 pre-K to high school students from low-income households during the 2020-21 school year. It will cover their tuition at private and parochial schools and provide access to much-needed at-home technology, including laptops, tablets and WiFi connection.

The scholarships are immediately going into effect due to the COVID-19 pandemic requiring virtual learning across the nation and the resulting economic crisis.

Meek and the 76ers co-owner launched the criminal justice reform organization REFORM Alliance in January 2019. And they’re equally passionate about education in Pennsylvania after previously committing to donate “millions of dollars” to the cause.

Just last week people were clowning Meek for posting an instagram picture up of himself buying water for $20 from a group of kids. People forget that Meek does a lot for the poorer neighborhoods on Philly and this is just one of many things he does to give back.
