Governor Andrew Cuomo Resigns Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation amid sexual harassment allegations. We first reported in March that 7 women have come forward with accusations of sexual misconduct against the New York Governor.

The report came as pressure mounted for Gov. Cuomo to step aside, with 2/3 of the New York State Assembly, U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden all calling for Cuomo to leave office.

While Cuomo disputes many facts in Attorney General Letitia James’ report and attributed his behavior to being “too familiar with people.” In a press conference Tuesday, he apologized to those he “truly offended.”

His resignation will take effect in 14 days. Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Hochul will take his place. Watch the full press conference below. Courtesy of USA Today
