The back to back MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo has decided to run it back and secured the bag today! He decided to stay in Milwaukee and sign a 5 year 228 million dollar supermax deal. The most money he could receive from nay team this past off season. Anywhere else would only be able to sign him for a max of 4 years worth between $140 million and $160 million.
Giannis Broke the news via twitter earlier today with this message :
“This is my home, this is my city. I’m blessed to be able to be a part of the Milwaukee Bucks for the next 5 years. Let’s make these years count. The show goes on, let’s get it.”
Giannis is coming off a career year in which he became just the third player in NBA history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season, joining Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. He also averaged career highs in points (29.5) and rebounds (13.6) to go with 5.6 assists per game.
With Giannis committing to 5 more years with the Bucks this will keep them a contender in the eastern conference. The big question is will it be enough to get past the Heat, Celtics, Sixers and the Nets?
