After almost nine days in two hospitals, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute, the team announced Wednesday.
Hamlin has been at the hospital in Buffalo since Monday after he was released from the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He spent almost a week at the hospital in Cincinnati after suffering cardiac arrest during the first quarter of a “Monday Night Football” game between the Bills and the Bengals. The game was initially postponed after Hamlin collapsed on the field and then canceled days later.
The Cincinnati Bengals hosted the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football for what should have been a great game. During the first quarter safety Damar Hamlin tackled wide receiver Tee Higgins and quickly got up afterward. Hamlin then abruptly collapsed, with athletic trainers coming to help immediately. A stretcher then was brought to the field as athletic trainers protected his head. The game was then canceled and said to be postponed.
Trainers proceeded to administer CPR on him before transporting him in an ambulance to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is currently in critical condition. Players from both teams took the field for a knee and prayer.
