President Joe Biden announced today that WNBA star Brittney Griner is being released from a Russion prison and she is on her way home. Griner has been serving her 9 year sentence since February of this year on drug smuggling charges at an airport in the Moscow region.
Griner was released as part of a prisoner swap for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, according to a source familiar with the matter. The prisoner swap did not include Paul Whelan.
