The legendary Reggie Osse´ better known as Combat Jack has passed away today at the age of 48 due to a battle with colon cancer. Some may know him from the Combat jack Show podcast, but he also graduated from Cornell University. Received his degree in law from georgetown University Law Center. He represented a who’s who list in hip-hop. Jay Z, Roc-a-fella Records, DJ Clark Kent, Capone-N-Noreaga and others, starting from an internship in legal affairs for Def Jam Recordings in 1989. After 12 years of the music business he retired and wrote a book calling Bling. He also became Vice President of Audio/Music DVD at MTV Networks and later became managing editor of The Source magazine.

Combat Jack has also done work for byroncrawford.com, ihiphop.com, xxlmag.com, and his own site – daily-math.com. In 2013, The Combat Jack Show became the flagship of a network of podcasts founded by Ossé known as the Loud Speakers Network, which also includes The Read, hosted by Kid Fury and Crissle, The Brilliant Idiots, and FanBros, hosted by DJ Benhameen.

I met him twice. Once at a friend of mines art show and the second time where I got to ask him a few questions at his lecture at the Brooklyn Historical Society. Asked him some basic questions about podcasting and he had no problem answering them. Super cool dude.

He will be missed.
